⟪⟪    Drop colors & diffraction    ⟫⟫

 

Bands of colors similar to a rainbow can be observed in single drops as well, especially when photographing them out of focus. It has the exact same cause as a rainbow, with the only difference being that this is observed in a single drop, whereas a rainbow is the result of many drops combined. Sometimes you can also see diffraction patterns as in some of these photos.
