⟪⟪    Sun & moon dogs    ⟫⟫

A sun dog, formed during some snowfall (2014-01-19)

A sun dog can be seen to the right of a 22 degree halo (2014-04-05)

Two sun dogs can be seen to the left and the right of the 22 degree halo. The one on the left is slightly brighter than the one on the right (2014-04-05)

Two sun dogs can be seen to the left and the right of the 22 degree halo (2014-04-24)

[ normal || enhanced ] ⇛ A weak moon dog (2015-02-08)

A sun dog reflected in the sea (2016-01-06)

Two sun dogs to the left and the right of the sun (2016-01-06)

More or less the same photo as the previous one, but this time taken with an infrared camera in stead (2016-01-06)

Two sun dogs can be seen to the left and the right of the 22 degree halo (2016-06-15)

[ polarizer || polarizer rotated 90 degrees ] ⇛ A bright sun dog. In this case a polarizer was used and rotated to check the polarization of sun dogs. You can see how the sun dog slightly shifts in position when rotating the polarizer, an effect which is caused by ice being birefringent (2016-06-15)
