Biodiversity

 

For quite a while now (and especially since becoming addicted to macro photography), it has become a bit of a challenge for me to capture as many different organisms as possible, since I find it very fascinating to observe and take pictures of the diversity of life. So below is an overview of all the lifeforms that are featured on this website, sorted by taxonomy (click on the images to see the corresponding photos). In many cases, I can't determine the lifeforms on a species level, in which case I put them under the taxonomy level that I am comfortable with. However, even though I put a lot of effort in finding the correct species determination, I am not a trained biologist, and I am grateful for any taxonomical corrections or suggestions. On this website are 3655 photos of lifeforms spread across 8 kingdoms ([K]), 29 phyla ([P]), 66 classes ([C]), 147 orders ([O]), 418 families ([F]), 773 genuses ([G]) and 632 species ([S]).
I have divided the photos into 9 categories: Algae (27 photos), Animals (72 photos), Bryophytes (179 photos), Bugs (1796 photos), Fungi (314 photos), Lichens (355 photos), Microorganisms (668 photos), Plants (214 photos) and Slime molds (126 photos).
